SJ LAW INSIGHT: When you sit silently and do not speak your truth  you consciously acquiesce for things to set up without you and perhaps contrary to your best interests. Your professional life is an extension of your inner state and areas, fears, insecurities that you fail to address personally will just carry over and blow up professionally. I'm working with a start up company, SYNERGY TV, and Gabby's words rang in my ear during our last conference call.  The best part about start ups is they are a blank canvas pliable to whatever corporate culture you intend IF and that's a big IF, you state your intention with clarity and follow through. Our team is very interested in creating a progressive corporate climate and one member of the new team asked us for our ideals of how ours should be set up. My stomach churned and every fiber in my being drawing from a couple of decades in the work world, mixed with happy and unhappy experiences, knew at least a few things that don't work for me. So I went first and put it right out there. "I intend for this to be a supportive and responsible culture versus a 'I have to cover my ass so much that I'm afraid to speak up or send an email'." and "utilize everyone's full potential and seek input across the board, i.e. pigeon holing this far to useful, creative, insightful, evolved being into just legal contract world is not in anyone's best interests." So far I still have the gig. Once I broke the ice chamber, everyone else felt okay to do the same and the intentions were 'cautiously' spewing. The future is ours, so why not fully participate in the new paradigm and create an environment that fosters our optimal potential for personal and professional growth?

SJ LAW INSIGHT: What does Freedom mean to you? America's freedom was not a given. There was a convention and fiercely determined men on both sides of the issue where independence was a dream. The birthing of the Americas was an intense labor process where a"committee of five" were tasked to draft a document proclaiming the separation from England and laying the foundation for a new nation. This document once edited, re-edited and polished some more had to then be sold to the Congressional leaders representing the "states". Freedom was not a given it was an ideal, mainly to not have to pay taxes back to the Queen. Like this de-faced Lady Liberty freedom is masked one face at a time, declared one word at a time, had one breath at a time, felt one action at a time, believed one person at a time, maintained one people at a time, protected one nation at a time to reaching monumental proportions.

SJ LAW - OOPS!

SJ LAW INSIGHT: One could say every law is based upon a mistake. Court calendars are filled by parties that made mistakes. Mistakes will happen. It's usually what you TAKE away from your mistake that matters as much as whether you own up to your mistakes and how. Being accountable and taking responsibility is admirable but may not always be great business and can hurt your bottom line. Which is probably why companies know they are sending out tainted goods but sign off on them anyway. Which is why employees play the fun game of covering their asses. Which is why politicians finger point every where else except home base. We know from spiritual laws that coming clean is always the pathway and if you don't clean up your mess NOW and face your underlying (ego, shadow, fear) issue, energetically you are not fooling anyone and permit that mistake to repeat. Sure, there are ways to mitigate mistakes, like hiring a clean up crew aka publicist to help you "spin" your screw up into a mighty learning experience. But learning from mistakes, course correcting as you go and staying with your truth is the best damage control and ultimately where you'll find forgiveness.

SJ LAW - JUSTICE?

SJ INSIGHT:
Love finds its will in forgiveness and acceptance while our legal system is still primarily bent on crime and punishment caring very little about true "retribution" and the process of forgiveness. We rely on time and a out of sight out of mind since a person cannot harm society from behind bars.

What is true justice?

SJ LAW Insight:
It's not always easy to step back out of your stance but sometimes a birds eye view is all you need to see the grand scheme. Going tit for tat in a negotiation rarely leaves anyone happy. Healthy compromise promotes advancement. :)
